Learn plotting techniques at American Christian Fiction Writers workshop

Various techniques for developing plots in novels will be explained in a workshop from 6:30-8:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 12, sponsored by the American Christian Fiction Writers (ACFW). This free workshop is open to the public and will be held in the kidsZone Program Room of the Schaumburg Township District Library, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg.

The plotting skill builder will feature two different techniques. KiteTales is for those who prefer developing the plot as they write, without mapping it out in advance. The Hero's Journey technique uses ancient story structures to create compelling storylines. Writers can easily organize their plot around proven themes and character types.

In these hands-on sessions, an experienced presenter will guide participants through exercises in which they can practice using the techniques with their own stories.

Attendees do not need to bring a finished manuscript but are welcome to bring notes from a work-in-progress.
