Palatine Township to host Caring Hearts Gala

Royalty, knights and princesses will fill the ballroom at Cotillion Banquets, 360 S. Creekside Drive, Palatine, during the 16th annual Caring Hearts Gala, "Gala of Thrones: A Medieval Ball," from 6-11:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20, to benefit the Palatine Township Senior Center.

Make sure to bring your fully charged smartphone or tablet to bid on the silent auction items or to donate to the Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council.

Enjoy the "Selfie Station" with a medieval backdrop and props to remember the evening. Dance the night away to the Original Rockin' Fenderskirts. Meet guest of honor Betsy Storm, author of "Bright Lights of the Second City: 50 Prominent Chicagoans on Living with Passion and Purpose," and hear about the work that the Palatine Township Senior Center is doing in Palatine Township and surrounding communities.

There will be a cash raffle, with tickets at $10 each or three for $25 and cash prizes of $500, $150 and $50.

Some of the live auction items include a set of Blackhawks tickets with parking and dinner, a one week stay in the Hamptons, White Sox package, Bulls tickets and a Zip Line tour. More than 50 silent auction groupings include Waterford crystal, golf packages and artwork, to name a few.

This black-tie optional or costume event includes open bar, hors d'oeuvres and four-course dinner. Tickets to attend are $125 per person and can be purchased online at www.ptscc.org or by stopping by the Palatine Township Senior Center, 505 S. Quentin Road, Palatine. The Palatine Township Senior Citizens Council operates the Palatine Township Senior Center, a private, nonprofit organization providing innovative, quality, cost-effective services to adults ages 50 and older in Palatine Township and Chicago's Northwest suburbs.

PTSCC is one of only five senior centers in Illinois that is accredited by the National Institute of Senior Centers. Its mission is to provide programs and services that support older adults and their families by encouraging independence, well-being, and connection to the community.

Recreation, Education, Health and Wellness, Noon Dining, Home Delivered Meals, Adult Day Services, and Social Services programs are available Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Services are available in English, Spanish and Russian at six satellite locations. The Social Services staff also makes home visits as needed.
