Sheriff's office: Drunken driver hit squad car in Beach Park

A Lake County sheriff's deputy was not injured after a drunken driver hit his squad car early Monday morning, officials said.

The deputy was traveling north on Sheridan Road about 2 a.m. when a 2001 Ford SUV made a left turn into Beach Mobile Home Park directly in front of the deputy's car, Lake County officials said in a release.

Gregory G. Fowler, 67, of the 38700 block of North Sheridan Road, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and failure to yield while making a left turn.

He is being held in the Lake County jail on $3,000 bail. Fowler was not injured in the crash either.
