Court effort aims to link job placement with child support

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A new court program in southwestern Illinois aims to help connect parents who owe child support with job placement programs and other social service efforts.
The Madison County "accountability court" is scheduled to begin this week. The Belleville News-Democrat (bit.ly/1W2ticy ) reports the program links the county's judicial system with local employers and two community colleges.
Chief judge Ann Callis says the county's court system gets bogged down with repeat cases of unpaid child support.
Other county officials say many parents who owe child support don't realize their payments can be adjusted due to unemployment.
