Kane County Fair talent contest winners compete in Springfield

The top first-place winners in the Junior and Senior Divisions of the Kane County Fair 2015 Talent Contest competed at the Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs official talent contest state competition in Springfield, Illinois, on Jan. 16.

Representing Kane County were solo vocalist Grace Lenaghan, junior division, and dancers Frankie Henson, Maeve Krzysiak, and Caitlyn Mourek, senior division, representing Dance Dynamics in Geneva.

Lenaghan of St. Charles achieved second place in the state out of 37 entries. She received a trophy and a cash prize. She performed Cinderella Medley, a theatrical vocal presentation.

Henson, Krzysiak and Mourek were awarded sixth place in the state out of 34 entries. They also received a trophy and a cash prize. They performed a dance routine to the music "Trouble."

Ron Meyer, IAAF president, said, "The IAAF really appreciates all the excellent local talent. This competition showcases our youth and was a highlight during this 106th annual convention."

"Kane County holds an abundance of youth talent," said Larry and Ellen Rossi, RPM Creative Music, coordinators of the Kane County Fair Talent Contest for the past 32 years. "We have been honored to have had many of our performers achieve first place and also a multitude in the top 10 over the years in the official state talent contest competition. It is with great pride that the final year of the talent contest ended on such a positive note for Kane County. We are extremely grateful to the fair and all of the parents and performers to have shared this exceptional opportunity with all of you."
