Browner's social media posts forecast departure from Saints

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Saints cornerback Brandon Browner has posted messages on social media saying farewell to New Orleans and alluding to the "next chapter" in his NFL career.

The Saints have not announced a decision to release Browner, which under NFL rules could not take place until Monday.

Browner's posts say he "truly did love" New Orleans and appreciated the opportunity the Saints gave him.

Browner, who played for Super Bowl winners New England last season and Seattle in 2013, was signed to a three-year, free-agent contract by New Orleans in 2015.

This season, however, he set a dubious NFL record with 24 penalties and the Saints' defense ranked second-to-last against the pass.

Browner's contract would count about $5 million against the 2016 salary cap if he's released this offseason.
