Ex-Aurora man gets 6 years for child sex abuse

A former Aurora man was sentenced Thursday to six and a half years in prison for sexually abusing a child he knew, Kane County officials said.

Florencio Rivera, 33, formerly of the 600 block of Concord Street, agreed to the sentence in exchange for pleading guilty to aggravated criminal sexual abuse, the Kane County States Attorney's office said in a statement.

Prosecutors said Rivera sexually abused the victim, who was younger than 13 at the time, between March and June 2012.

Rivera must register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, and he's eligible for day-to-day sentencing.
