Feb. 17: Thai-American author to present reading and workshop at CLC

Ira Sukrungruang, a Chicago born Thai-American author and professor, will read from his work and answer audience questions in a College of Lake County Reading Series event being held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17 in Room C003 at the College of Lake County in Grayslake. He will also conduct a workshop for writers from 3-4:15 p.m. in Room T347. Both events are free and open to the public.

Sukrungruang is the author of two memoirs, "Southside Buddhist," which won the 2015 American Book Award and a Bronze Medal in the Florida Book Awards, "Talk Thai: The Adventures of Buddhist Boy," a poetry collection "In Thailand It Is Night" and a forthcoming short story collection, "The Melting Season." He is an associate professor of creative writing at the University of South Florida.
