New Spring Programs Announced at the Center for Enriched Living!

An exciting lineup of programs, classes and social excursions have been announced for spring at the Center for Enriched Living (CEL)! CEL, a non-profit in Riverwoods, Illinois, provides social and recreational opportunities for nearly 500 Chicagoland teens, adults and seniors with developmental disabilities including autism, Down syndrome, cerebral palsy and others.

With nearly 25 different programs scheduled to run, CEL members have a wide variety of options to choose from that meet their individual interests, needs and budgets.

An exciting new program generating a lot of buzz is the Star Wars Appreciation Club on Sunday afternoons. This 6-week program will allow Star Wars enthusiasts of all ages to get together, watch each movie and discuss with other fellow fans. In addition, back by popular demand in its second season is Thursday Ladies Night a program for women ages 22 and over. This program provides opportunities for women to enjoy a relaxing evening out with girlfriends enjoying art, yoga, jewelry-making and more!

Teens and young adults (13-22) can look forward to an exciting lineup of options including The Center Presents (TCP), a fun after-school program consisting of cooking, life skills, sports & fitness, creative expressions and community excursions; Monday Night Bowling and monthly Open Mic Nights (ages 18 and over), where members and non-members alike can showcase their talents in front of their peers - performing poetry or a stand-up routine, singing, dancing and more. These outstanding options feature a wide-range of social activities designed for teens and young adults to socialize and enjoy time with friends in a fun environment.

In addition to the new programs, CEL will continue to offer its popular ELA and REACH Adult Day Programs, as well as afternoon, evening and weekend social enrichment programs and many community events. "CEL strives to provide each member with the opportunity to participate in programs that meets their interests and budgets," says Melissa Juarez-Ehlers, Director of Program Services.

Scholarships are available to assist those in financial need and transportation is available. "Our expanding lineup of programs serves our members' broad and diverse interests," says Executive Director, Harriet Levy. "CEL is flexible and able to meet the needs of our members - providing each individual with enriching social and recreational opportunities."
