Suburban sports bars up their game for Super Bowl

Whether you're a hard-core sports fan or just get swept up in the excitement about the year's biggest game, you've got plenty of options for where to watch the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos play on Sunday. Bars and restaurants throughout the area are airing the Super Bowl on huge screens while featuring food and drink specials to give you the fuel to keep cheering all night long. Plenty of spots are also offering giveaways and raffles, so you might go home feeling like a winner even if your favorite team loses.

Here's a sampling of suburban options:

Chandler's Chophouse

401 N. Roselle Road, Schaumburg, (847) 885-9009, chandlerschophouse.com: Enjoy the restaurant's big screen TVs and surround sound plus a buffet of appetizers from 5 to 8 p.m. with dinner served from 6 to 8:30 p.m. including broasted chicken and Italian beef. You can just eat for $13 or get the buffet along with an open bar package for $50. The regular dinner menu will not be available.

Coach's Corner

152 Biesterfield Road, Elk Grove Village, (847) 956-1818, dacoachs.com: You'll have the chance to escape the winter at this bash, which will be awarding a trip to Cancun and Puerto Vallarta as a door prize. Opt for a $50 open bar and food buffet package, which includes a reserved table, or just order off the regular menu.

Draft Picks

912 S. Busse Road, Mount Prospect, (847) 290-9000, draftpicksmtprospect.com: If you want to reserve a spot at the bar or a table, you'll need to get in on the bar's $50 package, which includes a buffet of wings, sliders, pizza, pasta and salad plus well drinks and beer. A raffle awards prizes to four winners each quarter.

Dublin Mule

1350 E. Chicago St., Elgin, (224) 281-4163: The new Irish sports bar offers raffles and giveaways throughout the game plus free pizza, meatballs and chili at halftime. The long list of specials includes $13 buckets, $7 Miller Lite and Bud Light pitchers, $3 screwdrivers, $4 Bloody Marys and $4 bombs.

Fuller House

35 E. First St., Hinsdale, (630) 568-5466, fullerhousebar.com: Get the full experience with the game, halftime show and commercials all airing on 12 TVs and a 130-inch screen. The spot also raffles off a prize every quarter including gift cards, a pair of Bulls tickets and an autographed Matt Forte jersey. Specials include $10 domestic buckets, $20 craft buckets, $4 craft beers from each team's hometowns, and a free halftime buffet including wings, sliders and pizza.

Kings

5505 Park Place, Rosemont, (847) 233-0099, kingsbowlamerica.com/rosemont: Enter to win a 40-inch TV plus other prizes each quarter including bowling pins signed by current and former Bears players. You can also take advantage of packages such as a choice of appetizer and a 32-ounce mug of Bud Light or Miller Lite for $13, a 10-inch pizza with a 32-ounce beer for $14, or a six-inch pizza, a beer and a small order of chicken wings or tenders for $17.

McQ's Bar & Grill

730 N. Bolingbrook Drive, Bolingbrook, (630) 739-1592, mcqsbar.com: Festivities start at 3 p.m. and you'll want to build up an appetite cheering then take advantage of the Halftime Frenzy when appetizers, flatbreads and sliders are all $5. If you don't manage to fill up then, or just can't wait, order a full slab of ribs for $15.95. If you're thirsty, you can order $3 Miller products, $6 team-themed cocktails and $5 Bloody Marys throughout the game, which airs on 80-inch screens. Miller Lite reps will be giving away swag, and every food item or drink purchased gets you a raffle ticket, with prizes awarded at halftime and at the end of the game including wings for a year and a Miller Lite beer cooler.

Moretti's Ristorante & Pizzeria

1799 S. Busse Road, Mount Prospect, (847) 593-2200, and 1893 Walden Office Square, Schaumburg, (847) 397-4200, morettischicago.com: Your group can split an order of Buffalo wings, a large 16-inch one topping pizza and a table tapper or bucket of Miller Lite or Coors Light for $34.99. If you want extra drinks, Miller Lite drafts are $2.75 and Absolut Bloody Marys are $5. The restaurants will be raffling off Bears jerseys and other sports memorabilia throughout the game.

Reserve 22

485 Winchell Way, Glen Ellyn, (630) 469-8180, villagelinksgolf.com/reserve-22: A $55 package gets you access to all 24 of the restaurant's draft beers along with wine and more beer by the bottle or can, plus a buffet at halftime. Prizes are awarded each quarter.

Rookies

2486 Bushwood Drive, Elgin, (847) 551-9006; 1545 W. Main St., St. Charles, (630) 513-0681; or 4607 W. Higgins Road, Hoffman Estates, (847) 645-0005, rookiespub.com: A $50 package, which runs from 5 p.m. until the two-minute warning, includes domestic and import beers, well and call drinks, soda and wine plus wings, chicken fingers, mini-tacos and other appetizers during the first quarter and a 12-ounce rib-eye with fried shrimp and a baked potato at halftime. Kids younger than 18 can get a burger or chicken fingers dinner for $15.

Splinters Sports Pub

2070 N. Rand Road, Palatine, (847) 991-0002, splinterssportspub.com: Start the night by taking advantage of drink specials including $3 20-ounce drafts, $5 well drinks and $6 call drinks then graze on a free half-time buffet featuring salad, baked ham, broasted chicken, lasagna and dessert. Reservations are required if you want a seat.
