Register Today for Council on Aging Lyric Opera Field Trips

The Barrington Area Council on Aging is hosting two field trips to the Lyric Opera for adults 60-years old and up. Tickets range in price from $100 to $140 and includes travel.

The first trip is to see Romeo and Juliet, Sat., March 19. Bus leaves at 10:15 a.m. with the show starting at 2 p.m.. Lunch will be on your own at Italian Village. Reservations are for 11:30 a.m.. Registration deadline is Feb. 19.

Romeo and Juliet tells the tale of the most celebrated Shakespearian love story where a young man and woman fall instantly in love. But alas, their passion was not meant to be, since they are both from families who have hated each other for centuries, and the two lovers die tragically in each other's arms. Cost is $140.

The second trip is to see The King and I, Wednesday, May 18. Bus leaves at 10:15 a.m. with the show starting at 1:30 p.m.. Lunch is on your own at Lloyds, a nearby restaurant serving everything from sandwiches to steaks. Reservations are for 11:45 a.m. Registration deadline is April 18.

The King and I, by the renowned Rodgers and Hammerstein, is based on a true story of the king of Siam and a feisty Welsh teacher who he hired to help him lead his country into the modern world. They ultimately fall in love to some of Broadway's greatest music including "Shall We Dance?" Cost is $100.
