Discover the Science of Superfoods with U of I Extension

Did you know all fruits and vegetables are superfoods? Did you know not all superfoods are fruits and vegetables?

Don't be fooled by marketing or hype, there is real science to support superfoods, and it is important to know which foods provide which benefits.

"Superfoods to the Rescue" is a University of Illinois Extension educational program designed to help participants explore the advantages of healthy food choices. The program will outline which foods naturally fulfill important dietary needs such as fiber, phytochemicals, prebiotics, probiotics and more.

In addition, the group will discover what fruit and vegetable colors mean for nutrient intake, and why it is important to eat a "rainbow."

This free seminar is provided in cooperation with the Association for Home and Community Education and led by Extension Educators via webinar. It is available from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 11, at three local Extension offices: Naperville, St. Charles and Yorkville.

There is no cost for this workshop, but preregistration is required by Thursday, Feb. 4, for program materials to be prepared. Seating may be limited.
