St. Viator claims Season's End title

St. Viator's girls basketball team completed a 4-0 run through the Fenton Season's End tournament in Bensensville to win the championship.

The Lions' final tourney game on Monday night was a 79-25 triumph over Chicago's Academy of the Arts High School.

The Lions improved to 14-10 heading into Wednesday's East Suburban Catholic Conference game against defending Class 4A state champion Benet in Arlington Heights.

West 61, Cary-Grove 34: Sophomore Allison Pearson (11 points, three 3-pointers, 3 assists), sophomore Jessica Riedl (8 points), senior Jordan Hart (8 points, two 3-pointers), sophomore Catherine Johnson (7 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists) and senior Eliza Palarz (7 points, 2 steals) helped lead visiting Maine West to a nonconference win.

Warriors coach Derril Kipp won his 785th game in 35 seasons as his team improved to 18-7.
