January sparks No. 23 DePaul women past St. John's 77-71

CHICAGO (AP) - Jessica January had 21 points, 10 rebounds, nine assists and three steals and No. 23 DePaul turned back St. John's 77-71 on Sunday.

Megan Podkowa added 11 points and 13 rebounds and Chanise Jenkins had 10 points and 10 assists, giving her 609 assists in her career for the Blue Demons (17-7, 9-2 Big East).

DePaul made six-straight shots and went 10 of 20 in the first quarter, including a late 3 by Ashton Millander, to take a 25-16 lead. The Blue Demons led by 15 late in the first half but couldn't shake the Red Storm. St. John's closed to within eight in the third quarter and cut a 15-point fourth quarter deficit to five on a 3-pointer by Danaejah Grant with 59 seconds to play, but missed on three chances to make it a one-possession game.

Grant had 16 of her 24 points in the second half for the Red Storm (16-6, 7-4).
