Powell scores 24; Seton Hall beats No. 23 DePaul women 83-74

CHICAGO (AP) - Aleesha Powell made all five of her 3-point shots and scored 24 points and Seton Hall used a lopsided start to beat Big East leader and 23rd-ranked DePaul 83-74 on Friday.

The Pirates (17-4, 7-3) led 21-6 after the first quarter with Powell scoring eight points, and Seton Hall never surrendered the lead in avenging a Jan. 5 home loss.

Powell was 9-of-10 shooting. Tabatha Richardson-Smith added 20 points and Shakena Richardson 18.

Chanise Jenkins scored 21 points, Jessica January 17 and Jacqui Grant 15 for the Blue Demons (16-7, 8-2), whose four-game win streak ended while the Pirates have now won four straight.

The Pirates built a 20-point lead but DePaul had a 15-0 run in the second quarter and trailed 35-28 at halftime.

DePaul was within four early in the fourth quarter but got no closer with the Pirates holding a 13-point lead with under two minutes left.
