Antioch Twp. crash leaves woman in critical condition

A 24-year-old woman is in critical condition after her truck struck a utility pole and tree Tuesday near the state line in Antioch Township, authorities said.

The crash occurred about 12:40 p.m. at North Avenue and Burning Bush Lane, which is located in an unincorporated area across the Wisconsin border.

The driver of the pickup truck was traveling west on North Avenue when she approached the curve in the roadway at Burning Bush Lane. She failed to negotiate the curve, according to a news release from the Lake County sheriff's office, and the truck, a 2000 Ford F-150, drove off on the north side of North Avenue and struck the utility pole and tree before coming to a rest.

The driver was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Authorities say the crash is under investigation.
