Dist. 304 offers 'What's On the Table' alerts

As part of Geneva Unit District 304's ongoing efforts to engage the community in local school governance, they are offering, via email, "What's On the Table," a short preview of each board meeting.

The next regular meeting will be 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, at Williamsburg Elementary School, 1812 Williamsburg Ave.

On the agenda, the Board will consider a resolution providing for the partial abatement of taxes levied for the years 2014 and 2015. To date, the district has abated over $20 million to taxpayers, which has kept the tax levy at a consistent level.

In addition, representatives from Forecast 5, the district's financial planning tool, will present budget assumptions for the years 2017-2021.

The Operations and Maintenance Department will present their 7-year capital plans for facility maintenance, improvements, and security enhancement.

It is now easier for you to discover and learn about the issues that are "on the table" for discussion or action. The board hopes to involve diverse citizens in dialogue, deliberation, and collaborative thinking around common concerns and new possibilities.

The board of education recognizes the value of public input on educational issues and the importance of allowing members of the public to express themselves on district matters. There are two opportunities during every board meeting for members of the public to make comments.
