Milestone for Ashley Reiser as Antioch tops Wauconda

Antioch's girls basketball team maintained first place in the North Suburban Prairie race by handling Wauconda 55-43 on Wednesday.

And in protecting their league lead, the Sequoits also made it a night to remember for junior guard Ashley Reiser.

She led Antioch with 18 points and reached a career milestone at about the midpoint of the fourth quarter, when she scored her 1,000th career point.

Reiser also finished with 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals.

Erika Gallimore (14 points, 6 rebounds) and Alexis Duehr (13 points, 4 assists, three 3s) also had big games for Antioch (20-4, 9-0).

Top producers for Wauconda (11-9, 3-5) were junior center Katie Rossetti (18 points) and freshman forward Allie Tylka (8 points).

"We played one of our best halves of basketball," said Wauconda coach Jaime Dennis, "did exactly what we wanted to do defensively and passed the ball well offensively. Unfortunately in the second half we went away from the things that made us successful in the first. A few defensive letdowns, and the game changed quickly. Antioch turned up the intensity in the second and we couldn't match it."

Lakes 51, Grant 47: A balanced scoring effort an a big fourth quarter help the host Eagles get past the Bulldogs in NSC Prairie play.

Lakes (14-9, 6-1) trailed by a point entering the final period before producing an 18-point quarter.

Natalie Iacopetti led the Eagles with 15 points, while Ellie Haviland had 10 points and 9 rebounds. Sarah Zellman contributed 9 points and Mia Edwards 6.

Grant slipped to 12-9 overall and 6-2 in the Prairie.

Barrington 45, Grayslake North 31: The visitors from the Mid-Suburban League held the Knights to 5 points in the first quarter and led 29-15 by halftime of this nonconference matchup.

Kelly Katis made three 3s and finishing with a game-high 15 points for the Fillies, while Megan Talbot had 10 points and Abigail Elo 9.

Grayslake North (12-9), which finished 1-3 in tournament play at Washington recently and won its final game there, was led by 9 points from Sidney Lovitsch and 7 from Abbey Stinner.

Lake Forest 54, Libertyville 42: Claire Keefe scored a game-high 18 points, but the visiting Wildcats couldn't quite keep pace with the Scouts in NSC Lake play.

Freshman Maeve Summerville made a pair of 3s and led the way for Lake Forest (10-13) with 16 points.

Libertyville (10-9, 4-4) had nine players score, but only Keefe reached double figures.

"We played hard but couldn't find our groove," said Libertyville coach Greg Pedersen. "Credit Lake Forest - they played hard."
