Whooping cough reported at Warren Twp. High School

A case of whooping cough at Warren Township High School in Gurnee has been confirmed by Lake County health officials, ABC 7 reported.

In a letter to parents, the school district asked them to watch their children for symptoms for the next three weeks.

Whooping cough, which is also known as pertussis, is a highly contagious bacterial infection. The first symptoms resemble a common cold but then may progress to severe coughing fits. The cough usually lasts several weeks.
