Learn about Batavia Unit Dist. 101 tech program from students

From 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, Batavia Unit District 101 will host its first "Tech Luau."

This open house-style event is open to anyone in the community who is interested in learning more about the district's use of technology and see what students in kindergarten to fifth grade are working on - from the students.

The districtwide event will be held at J.B. Nelson Elementary School, 334 William Wood Lane, Batavia.

At "Tech Luau," more than 25 students will be sharing how they learn with technology via informal show-and-tell demonstrations. Attendees will learn how students collaborate in a Google Slide, create Powtoon videos, communicate with students at other schools through a collaboration station, improve critical thinking through coding, and more.

District 101 teachers and district instructional technologists will be on hand to answer questions.

This is an opportunity for students to demonstrate their tech skills and for parents, grandparents, and community members to see firsthand how technology supports learning at Batavia Unit District 101.
