Stevenson Center invites students

The Adlai Stevenson Center on Democracy, 25200 N. St. Marys Road, Mettawa, invites students to write original short opinion pieces (500 words or less) or multimedia presentations (of no more than 10 megabytes in upload size) on topics that affect public policy for publication on its website. Examples include, but are not limited to: climate change, campaign finance reform, immigration, civil rights or other contemporary subjects. Controversial topics are acceptable, though the tone and language should remain respectful. The center reserves the right to edit submissions, and publication is not guaranteed. Submit essays by March 15. Blind copies of each essay will be read by a committee of three center advisers. Winning essays will be published on the center's website. There is no financial compensation involved, but a certificate recognizing the contribution with the date of publication will be issued to the author. For information, call the center at (773) 633-5661 or visit www.stevensoncenterondemocracy.org, or visit Lake County YES Coalition - Youth Empowerment for Success at www.lakecountyyes.org
