Smoke leaves West Dundee home uninhabitable

The cause of a West Dundee garage fire that left the adjoining home uninhabitable due to smoke damage Saturday morning remains under investigation.

Firefighters responded to the call on the 2000 block of Waterbury Court at 9:36 a.m. and saw heavy smoke coming from the two-story house with an attached garage.

Bystanders reported that all occupants were safely out of the house, and no injuries were caused by the fire, officials said.

Firefighters were able to stop the flames from progressing into the living room and extinguished the blaze in the garage.

A total of 32 firefighters were on the scene, with West Dundee receiving assistance from Carpentersville, East Dundee, Rutland-Dundee and Elgin.
