Books Between Bites to tell story of 'The Wright Brothers'

The monthly noontime book program Books Between Bites welcomes the return of Barbara Kalina at noon Thursday, Jan. 21, at the Batavia Public Library, 10 S. Batavia Ave. She will discuss historian David McCullough's book "The Wright Brothers."

Kalina, a lifelong Batavia resident and former literature and history teacher - who is fascinated by those who think outside the box - discusses this story of Wilbur and Orville Wright's uncanny genius. McCullough's inspiring account of the Wright brothers' pursuit of their dream reveals the character traits that led to their stunning success. Kalina's enthusiasm for this book has led to much further research in preparation for her program. This includes visits to the Wright brothers' hometown of Dayton, Ohio, and the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C.

Books Between Bites is held from noon to 1 p.m. in the large Founders Room located just inside the library's main entrance. The public is invited to attend this free program and reservations are not required. Parking is available in the lot just south and adjacent to the library.

People are invited to bring their lunch and eat as they enjoy the program and discussion. Lunch items, beverages and baked goods can be purchased at Chapters Coffee House & Café, located just inside the library and adjacent to the meeting room.

Books Between Bites was established in Batavia in 1987 by the late Lee C. Moorehead. The program has been continued by Moorehead's wife, Betty, and his daughter, Becky Hoag, in partnership and co-sponsorship with George H. Scheetz and Stacey Peterson of Batavia Public Library.

For more information about Books Between Bites, call Becky Hoag at (630) 482-9157. The program runs through May and a complete schedule can be found at booksbetweenbites.com. Printed season schedules are available at the Batavia Public Library.
