Prayer for Christian Unity Week includes Mount Prospect event

Catholics are joining with other Christian denominations in ecumenical celebrations during the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, begun in 1908, with event locations including Mount Prospect, Skokie and Glenview.

A conversation about Catholic and Lutheran beliefs and traditions will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17, at St. Raymond de Penafort Parish, 301 South I-Oka Ave. in Mount Prospect. The event is hosted by St. Raymond de Penafort Parish Ecumenical Ministry and St. Mark Lutheran Church. The Church Women United of Greater Chicago and the Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women are hosting a Christian Unity Prayer Breakfast at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, at the Holiday Inn, 5300 North Touhy Ave. in Skokie. For information and registration, go to www.accwchicago.org.

An Ecumenical Prayer Service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 24, at St. Isaac Jogues Parish, 8149 West Golf Road in Niles. Participating churches include Messiah Lutheran Church in Park Ridge and Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Glenview. For information, call the parish at (847) 967-1060.
