Bollywood comes to Schaumburg for charity

Indian dancers in brightly colored costumes entertained a crowded house Sunday during the presentation of "Kathak Bollywood" at the Prairie Center for the Arts in Schaumburg.

The charity fundraiser included two performances featuring 80 performers of Kathak-style dance, all to benefit Sewa International. The Houston-based organization provides disaster relief and supports educational efforts, health initiatives and other charitable causes both in the United States and abroad.

During Sunday's event. spectators experienced the glamour of Bollywood through the vision of Gauri Jog, artistic director and choreographer at the Indian Dance School in Schaumburg. The school has helped more than 65 charities through dance shows.

All of the money collected from the fundraiser is intended to support Sewa International's mission to improve education in rural villages of India.
