Lombard mosque invites neighbors to open house

A Lombard mosque opened its doors Saturday for its first neighborhood open house, an event that organizers hoped would promote dialogue between Muslims and non-Muslims.

Volunteers hand-delivered gifts to more than 130 neighbors for the holidays and extended invitations to the Masjid DarusSalam near North Avenue and Swift Road.

The event included a question-and-answer session, "Intro to Islam," presentation and refreshments.
