Highland Park chiropractor sentenced to probation, periodic imprisonment

A Highland Park chiropractor who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a client during a session was sentenced to 36 months probation and 18 months of periodic imprisonment, authorities said Thursday.

Kevin G. Dutton, 39, of Chicago, also was ordered by Lake County Judge Daniel Shanes to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life, said Cynthia Vargas, spokeswoman for the Lake County State's Attorney's Office.

Dutton is required to abide by all rules for his sex offender specific probation, Vargas said. He is also ordered to serve 200 hours public service hours, and donate $1,000 to the Lake County Children's Advocacy Center, she said.

Dutton pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated criminal sexual abuse for inappropriately touching a 22-year-old female patient during a chiropractic treatment at the Wellness Circle on the 800 block of Central Avenue. Dutton worked at the fitness center as an independent contractor at the time of the 2014 attack, officials said.

He could have been sentenced by Shanes up to seven years in prison. The charge is also probationable, Shanes said.
