What actions are needed to produce a healthy federal budget? Specifically, what changes do you advocate regarding how revenue is produced or what our spending priorities are? In particular, what effect does current policy have on your district and what changes, if any, are needed?Right now congress's most important job is to strengthen our national defense and protect our homeland. That will be my top priority. Electing a representative who has been in the trenches and worked and lived all his life in the community he represents will help make Congress more productive and responsive to the resident's of the 6th district. Making Congress more transparent will make it more effective. We need to balance our budget, cut waste and reduce our debt. Stop raising the debt ceiling. Our district's residents work hard and are very productive. Our residents will be less financially burdened and more productive with lower taxes, reduced government regulations, and implementing pension reform. This will help get the economy growing faster. I will make sure they are getting their share of the highway bill to reduce traffic congestion and make travel especially around railways safer and less obtrusive. What immigration policies do you support? Where, if at all, do you see room for compromise to produce an effective policy on immigration? How will these policies have an impact in your district? We need to secure our borders. Build a fence. Send all illegal immigrants who are felons to their homeland. Intense vetting of those entering our country. Stopping the flow of illegal immigration will reduce the financial burden on taxpayers, will have a positive effect on workers' wages and make the residents of of our district safer. What should be the top priorities in Congress related to the Affordable Care Act? If you want changes, what specifically do you recommend? If you want the act entirely eliminated, please address these questions: Is that politically feasible? If it proves infeasible, where do you see the potential for compromise? If it is eliminated, what would you replace it with, if anything? We should preserve a healthcare safety net and provide coverage/insurance for those with preexisting conditions. Eliminate the unfair cost shifting which has resulted in in higher premiums, higher deductibles, less coverage, forced discontinuation of previous plans, and business stifling mandates associated with ACA.What military or diplomatic roles should the United States play to promote peace and stability in the Mideast? Under what circumstances, should we have military forces actively operating? We need leadership that holds itself accountable for its previous mistakes that has contributed to the rise of ISIS and the the worsening instability in the Mideast. Leaving an unprepared Iraq, not helping stabilize Syria and underestimating ISIS has created an unstable vacuum in the Mideast which now threatens US citizens at home and abroad. We need to help stabilize and secure the region allowing the Syrian refugees to return to their homes and eliminate the ISIS threat to US citizens. Please list any elected office you have ever run for and what the result of that election was. Have you ever been appointed to fill an unexpired term? Most recently ran for Glen Ellyn Park District twice and won. Currently serving. Have balanced the budget, cut costs and generated significant surpluses used to pay for capital improvements and maintenance projects instead of having to raise taxes and still projecting decreasing the tax levy into the future. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office? Our founding Fathers intended representatives in Congress to rotate on a regular basis. Being a Congressman was not meant to be a career. I am in favor of term limits. Our current group of career politicians have failed us. They have not got the job done. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Everyone who signed up for the military and put their life on the line and on hold to protect their fellow citizens. What is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Work hard and be honest. If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Have more kids. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?History, It always repeats itself. It helps predict the future. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Never give up. Keep trying.
