Motorola to start breaking up suburban campus
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. -- Motorola Solutions next month will begin efforts to sell its longtime global headquarters campus outside Chicago.
The Daily Herald in Arlington Heights (http://bit.ly/22BtMeE) reports Motorola Solutions will divide the 277-acre campus in Schaumburg into five parcels, excluding a part held by Zurich North America for its new corporate headquarters.
The manufacturer of communications equipment announced in September it planned to move its headquarters and 800 workers to Chicago by the summer of 2016. Motorola Solutions plans to keep using two buildings on the Schaumburg campus where 1,600 employees will continue to work.
Schaumburg Community Development Director Julie Fitzgerald says the village's zoning board of appeals will hold a public hearing next month on the proposed plan to break up the campus into parcels to put on the real estate market.
