No injuries, but 12 apartments uninhabitable after Lake Villa fire

A fire Friday afternoon in a Lake Villa apartment complex displaced residents of 12 units, ABC 7 and the Lake County News Sun reported.

Lake Villa Fire Protection District officials confirmed they battled an apartment fire Friday afternoon but said nothing further as the cause remains under investigation.

ABC 7 reported the fire began about 3 p.m. in an apartment on the third floor of a three-story building. The fire, in the 0-100 block of Cedar Avenue, left the building uninhabitable after smoke, fire and water damage, the Lake County News Sun reported.

The Red Cross is assisting the families with shelter after the fire.

No injuries were reported.
