Officials: No one injured in Schaumburg car fire

Firefighters were able to quickly put out a car fire in Schaumburg Friday night, officials said.

Crews responded about 9:20 p.m. for a car fire on northbound Route 53 between Higgins and Woodfield roads, Schaumburg fire officials said.

Firefighters put out the blaze in about five minutes, officials said, and the driver of the 1995 BMW was not injured.

The driver told firefighters he'd just filled the car with gas but then noticed smoke coming from the back of the car, so he pulled over.

Schaumburg fire officials said there was nothing suspicious about the fire. Northbound East Frontage Road was blocked for 20-30 minutes.
