'Voice' hopeful from St. Charles finishes fourth

St. Charles native Jeffery Austin made an impressive run to get to the finals on NBC's “The Voice,” but finished in 4th place among the four finalists during Tuesday night's season finale.

The winner was Jordan Smith, a singer from Kentucky.

Austin, 24, an alumnus of St. Charles North High School, said he auditioned for the show “hoping I would find myself as an artist.”

He clearly did, being chosen by Gwen Stefani to be on her team and dubbed the “passionate pop singer.” Austin performed duets Tuesday night with Tori Kelly and Madi Davis.

He tweeted, “Did I just perform with @ToriKelly? Did she slay my life? Yes to both.”
