Every weekend, Daily Herald photographers venture out to some of the prime local events. Here are some of the best images from our photographers.

Sophie kept sticking her head in it and when noise would come out, she'd burst into laughter, run away and come back for Evan to do it again. "That's so funny!" she said a few times.   Paul Schmidt of Lindenhurst plays his ophicleide during TubaChristmas at Algonquin Commons mall in Algonquin Saturday. The instrument was created in 1821 is was the predecessor to today's euphonium and tuba. Schmidt has been playing tuba for over 40 years, picking it up as a kid, and has played this ophicleide (which was made in 1835) for 29 years. Schmidt passes out a cards with the history of this instrument whenever he performs. Ophicleide (pronounced offi-clyde) is Greek for 'serpent with keys'. Laura Stoecker/lstoecker@dailyherald.com
