Pearl Harbor remembered Monday at Great Lakes

The Japanese raid on Pearl Harbor will be remembered from noon to 1 p.m. Monday, at the Great Lakes Naval Station museum, which is at the main gate off Sheridan Road near North Chicago.

Free and open to the public, the Great Lakes event will start with a wreath-laying ceremony, spokesman John Sheppard said. That'll be followed by the showing of a portion of the acclaimed World War II documentary "The World at War." Visitors will get to see a portion of the documentary called "Banzai: Japan 1931-1942."

In addition, selected artifacts from the museum's collection related to the raid on Pearl Harbor will be available for viewing.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch, but coffee and cookies will be served. For additional information, call (847) 688-3154 or email glnm@navy.mil.
