Illinois man faces murder charges in wife, stepson's deaths

WAUKEGAN, Ill. (AP) - A 47-year-old northern Illinois man is accused of beating his wife and teenage stepson to death with a metal baseball bat.

Armando Trejo was charged Monday with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of aggravated battery. His bail was set at $5 million.

Forty-three-year-old Lailani Uy Trejo and 14-year-old Patrick K. Cruz Uy were found dead with "significant trauma" to their bodies inside their Beach Park home at about 2:45 a.m. Sunday. Trejo's 68-year-old mother was taken to a hospital for treatment to a broken arm.

Authorities say Trejo admitted to attacking the three family members after an argument.

Trejo is scheduled to return to court Dec. 22. It wasn't immediately known whether he has an attorney.
