Body matching description of missing McHenry man found in Fox River

A body matching the description of a McHenry man described as mentally challenged who went missing Monday was found in the Fox River Tuesday, the McHenry County sheriff's office said in a news release.

Authorities said Roger T. Little, 69, was last seen at 4:30 p.m. Monday near the intersection of North Villa Lane and West Washington Park in McHenry.

Little was reported missing by his brother, who lived with him on the 2800 block of north Villa Lane, around 8:30 p.m. Monday.

The initial search on Monday, which included an attempt to find a trail using police dogs, a ground search using thermal imaging and a sonar search in the river, was eventually stopped because of darkness, according to the sheriff's office.

On Tuesday, a search helicopter found what appeared to be a body in the river at the end of a pier on the 500 block of Mineral Springs Drive in an unincorporated area near McHenry.

The body that was found was dressed in clothing that matched the description given to police Monday night, the sheriff's office said in the release.

There are no preliminary indications of foul play, according to investigators, and the investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County coroner's office.
