Tune in to Huntley radio's holiday lineup

With Thanksgiving now past, we're looking forward to the holiday season - Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa and New Year's. It's a very exciting time, shopping for gifts, baking special treats and visiting friends and family. Perhaps you'll find time to listen to 101.5 FM, Huntley Community Radio or online at huntleyradio.org. That's one of the great advantages of radio - you don't have to sit down and watch it. It can go with you wherever you are - in the car, in the kitchen or anywhere. You can keep on cooking or whatever you're doing.

With that in mind, I thought I'd introduce you to a few of our more than 45 variety shows each time you read our column.

Let's start with our Morning Show which is on every weekday from 7 to 10 a.m. Hosted by Mike Caserno, this program is a mixture of news, sports, weather and community events with some fun thrown in. Start your day off with a smile as Mike gets you informed and connected with all you need to know to have a wonderful day.

Meet host Jim Kucharski who brings you "Chainsaw's Polka Madhouse." Jim features the finest in polka music from the past and present. His show airs every Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m.

"Pondering Our Paws" is hosted by veterinarian Dr. Debra Jenkins ("Dr. Deb") and technician Jeanette Hansen from the Pet Vet Animal Clinic. Listen as they share information and answer questions on a show all about our furry friends. They touch on everything from veterinary medicine, breed profiles, upcoming pet events to heartwarming stories. The show is on 12:30 to 1 p.m. Monday, 11:30 a.m. to noon Wednesday, and 4 to 4:30 p.m. Friday.

Like to try different restaurants? Listen to the "Dining Duo, hosted by "foodies" Jim and Nancy Eggers. They really enjoy finding new restaurants and telling everyone about their culinary experiences, as well as critiquing the old favorite haunts. If you go to our website, huntleyradio.org, and click on their "Podcasts" you will be able to listen to all their past reviews of the more than 50 restaurants they have visited. The "Dining Duo" can be heard every Monday from 11 a.m. to noon, Thursdays from 12:30 to 1 p.m., and Fridays from 4:30-5 p.m.

Those are just a few of our more than 40 shows. As we look forward to the new year, we have many new programs about to start. Be sure to listen to 101.5 FM - you're really going to like it.
