Police investigate break-ins at 4 Champaign-Urbana hotspots

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - Police in central Illinois say they're investigating after break-ins were reported during the Thanksgiving holiday weekend at four Champaign-Urbana restaurants and bars.

The (Champaign) News-Gazette reports Monday that (http://bit.ly/1MZsujv ) police are investigating incidents at Radio Maria, Bacaro and Joe's Brewery in Champaign and Canopy Club in Urbana.

Radio Maria manager Wesam Arafa says someone entered his business on Thanksgiving Day by breaking a glass window and crawling through to get into the kitchen. He says the thief destroyed two empty cash registers and made off with a small amount of money. Arafa says it's the first burglary at the restaurant in 20 years and now they're getting a security system.

Police say someone threw a rock through a glass door to break into Canopy Club and empty cash registers.
