Pedestrians injured in Schaumburg parking lot

Two pedestrians suffered minor injuries after being struck by a vehicle in the parking lot of The RoomPlace near the intersection of Golf and Wilkening roads in Schaumburg about noon Friday, according to police.

The injured 66-year-old man and woman were taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates for treatment. One suffered a nonlife-threating head injury, and the other had a minor knee injury.

Police said the male driver was traveling west through the parking and said he did not see the two pedestrians. A witness said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed for a parking lot.

No citations were issued because the accident occurred on private property and the driver was neither impaired nor uninsured, police said.
