St. Charles kicks off holiday season with Holiday Homecoming

Holiday Homecoming in Downtown St. Charles kicked off on Friday with the Lighting of the Lights Ceremony on the 1st Street Plaza. Musical performances by the St. Charles North and East High School chorales began the festive event before Mayor Ray Rogina welcomed the crowd and the switch was flipped to light the tree and all of downtown St. Charles. Santa Claus and his elves also made a special appearance to listen to wish lists of children.

Saturday activities start with a free holiday movie at the Arcada Theater. There will be visits with Santa from 1 to 4 p.m. and free horse-drawn carriage rides from 1 to 5 p.m., both on the 1st Street Plaza. The Electric Christmas Parade on Main Street begins at 5:30 p.m.
