Dist. 214 recognized for digital curriculum excellence

High School District 214 has once again been recognized for being at the forefront of instructional technology and effecting change in its schools.

District 214 has been named a "Top 10 District" by the Learning Counsel, a California-based organization that helps schools and districts transition to digital curriculum and gain awareness of new resources. The district's responses to a Curriculum Survey assessment, among other criteria, organizational practices, digital curriculum tactics and usage ranked it as one of the 10 best school districts in the nation.

"Making the transition from traditional curriculum and content materials to those in digital form is a complex undertaking that impacts the school district in a manner unlike any other shift in education," said David D. Kafitz Jr., vice president of School Relations and Consulting for the Learning Counsel. "Attempting this work takes vision and leadership from the district in order to execute a positive and beneficial change."

Recipients of the award were recognized at the Learning Counsel's Gathering & National Awards Event held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in October.

District 214's commitment to integrating technology with curriculum has been nationally recognized for the last six years. Earlier this year, the district placed among the top five in the country in the Digital School Districts survey conducted by the Center for Digital Education and the National School Boards Association.
