Lakes takes tourney finale against Elk Grove

Sarah Zellman scored 15 points, grabbed 4 rebounds and dished out 3 assists, as Lakes' girls basketball team concluded Lake Zurich's Thanksgiving tournament with a 54-42 win over Elk Grove on Wednesday night.

The game was tied at 26-26 at halftime, before the Eagles outscored the Grenadiers 18-5 in the third quarter.

Natalie Iacopetti added 13 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists for Lakes.

"Good victory for our team heading into conference," Eagles coach Brian Phelan said. "We saw a variety of basketball during the tournament that will only help us play competitive basketball moving forward. Very happy for Sarah (Zellman) having the ball go through this game."

Lakes' other contributors included Ellie Haviland (9 points, 5 rebounds), Savannah Sikora (6 points, 7 rebounds) and Izzy Quaranta (9 points, 3 rebounds).
