Towns across county issue proclamation for #McHenryCountyGives

MCHENRY - Across McHenry County, cities and villages are endorsing #McHenryCountyGives. Most recently, the Cities of Crystal Lake, McHenry and Woodstock and the Village of Johnsburg issued proclamations recognizing December 1 as a day of giving. Led by Pioneer Center for Human Services, #McHenryCountyGives, our local version of #GivingTuesday, takes place on December 1. This movement is a local effort that harnesses the collective power charities, families, businesses and individuals to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season.

"Thank you to Mayors Low, Sager and Shepley, President Hettermann and their communities for their support of #McHenryCountyGives and their commitment to local nonprofits," said Jackie Wells, president and CEO of Pioneer Center. "Pioneer Center is proud to lead #McHenryCountyGives this holiday season alongside such committed local governments. At this time of year, especially in the absence of a budget for the state of Illinois, nonprofit organizations across the county need such generous dedication."

In addition to the proclamations issued by Crystal Lake, McHenry, Johnsburg and Woodstock, the Villages of Richmond and Spring Grove are participating in #McHenryCountyGives. Coinciding with the Thanksgiving holiday and the kickoff of the holiday shopping season, #McHenryCountyGives inspires people to take action to improve McHenry County, give back in better, smarter ways to the charities they support and help create a better community.

"McHenry County is an incredibly generous community," Wells said. "#McHenryCountyGives reminds us that the holiday season is best celebrated by sharing with others."

Whether you visit www.pioneercenter.org/donate or the website of another local nonprofit, Pioneer Center is encouraging McHenry County residents to join the #McHenryCountyGives movement December 1 and throughout the holiday season.

Local businesses and nonprofits interested in joining in on the #McHenryCountyGives movement can contact Pioneer Center at info@pioneercenter.org.
