During her keynote speech, former Illinois Lt. Governor Sheila Simon said today's high school students face significant challenges when transitioning to higher education. She also said while it is a long-term challenge, there is a lot that can be done to ease some of this dilemma.

"We can help ease the students' transition from high school to college by providing timely feedback to high school students regarding their preparedness for college; restructuring high school math requirements; and deepening connections between high school and community college faculty."

The event featured three expert discussion panels that focused on engendering successful student transitions from high school to college and into their career. In addition, a number of interactive workshops provided opportunities to participants to work together to identify challenges, make connections and outline steps toward possible solutions.
