East Dundee Turkey Festival Wednesday

East Dundee's Turkey Festival to rock Wednesday

Rockin' music, tasty food, cool beverages and crazy games are all part of the Turkey Festival slated from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25, at The Depot on River Street in East Dundee.

Sponsored by the Dundee Foundation in partnership with the East Dundee Volunteer Firefighters Association, the one-day, outdoor festival includes music, food plates, meat raffle, fun games and a tasty food competition that will be balls of fun. The day's activities will all take part under several large, heated, outdoor tents on and around the Depot grounds.

The live music line up includes 7th heaven, from 8 to 10 p.m., that has charted No. 1 on the Midwest Billboard Charts. Other bands include Mason Rivers from 6 to 8 p.m.; Cinful from 4 to 6 p.m.; and HiFi Superstar from noon to 2 p.m.

At around 6 p.m., and to create a twist to the activities, three area food vendors will compete in a fun and entertaining tasting competition. Blues BBQ and Grill, Emmetts and Randall Roadhouse will present their best-tasting, finger-licking-good turkey parts in what's been promoted as the "Testes Throwdown." America's favorite holiday fare will never be the same after the winner is determined.

"Downtown Dundee is the perfect venue for this festival," said East Dundee Village President Lael Miller. "What better place and time to kick start the long holiday weekend? And we've got plenty of places in Dundee that will keep the party going after the festival ends. I think visitors to our historic, downtown area are going to be pleasantly surprised when they see what we have going on here."

General admission from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. $5 for those age 18 and older; $2 for ages 3 to 17; and free for ages 2 and younger. General admission from 4 to 10 p.m. is $10 for all ages. Come early, invite some friends and co-workers and stay late while listening to great music and having some fun.

All proceeds from the admissions will be donated to the Dundee Foundation, a 501(c)3 Illinois nonprofit organization established to enhance the Dundee area through education, community events and programs.
