Public invited to give input on Lake Zurich police

A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., will be in Lake Zurich Dec. 6 to examine all aspects of the village police department's policy and procedures, management, operations, and support services.

The team is visiting to verify that the department meets the commission's state-of-the-art standards, part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation, a highly prized recognition of public safety professional excellence.

As part of the on-site assessment, agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session at 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, in the Community Room of the police department, 200 Mohawk Trail, Lake Zurich.

Those who cannot attend may call (847) 719-2469 between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, to leave a comment or write the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement, Inc. (CALEA), 13575 Heathcote Blvd., Suite 320, Gainesville, VA, 20155.

Telephone comments as well as appearances at the public information session are limited to 10 minutes and must address the agency's ability to comply with CALEA Standards.
