Bartlett industrial fire causes $500,000 in damage

A malfunctioning oven in a Bartlett industrial building caused a fire that broke out late Thursday night, leaving $500,000 in damage, but there were no injuries, officials said.

Firefighters arrived on the scene at V & F Transformer Corp., 31W222 West Bartlett Road, at 10:57 p.m., and the blaze was under control at 11:30 p.m. The Streamwood Fire Department also assisted with the call.

Investigators determined the oven fire was unintentional.

Fire Chief Michael Falese says without the building's properly working fire alarm system, the building "would have likely been a complete loss."

"Despite a significant amount of fire, this business should resume production in a short time," Falese said.
