Elgin man and woman charged with home invasion, kidnapping
An Elgin man and woman have been charged with home invasion and aggravated kidnapping following a home invasion Wednesday in which a child was taken, police said.
According to a news release issued Saturday by the Elgin Police Department, 29-year-old Nallely Hernandez-Dominguez was charged with home invasion and aggravated kidnapping, and 27-year-old Marco Morales-Guallpa was charged with aggravated kidnapping. Police said the pair entered a home on the 1300 block of Inverness Drive around 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday.
Police said Hernandez-Dominguez became involved in an argument with her ex-husband over custody of their child, whom he has sole custody of. The argument escalated into a fight that left the father with minor injuries. Hernandez-Dominguez and Morales-Guallpa then grabbed the child and brought the child into their vehicle and drove away.
Detectives were able to find the pair and the child later that evening, returning the child to the biological father.
They were scheduled to appear in Cook County bond court Saturday.
