Annual meal brings collegians, employees together

Aurora University's campus cafeteria hosted an annual Thanksgiving-style dinner Wednesday, Nov. 18, for 420 resident students.

Mokena resident Dr. Oscar Krieger was among 36 AU faculty members and administrators who volunteered as servers, taking students' written food orders, delivering food and clearing tables.

Krieger is AU athletic training program director and associate professor of athletic training.

Prepared by Sodexo Campus Services, cafeteria operator, the annual traditional Thanksgiving dinner took place from 4:30 to 7 p.m. in Alumni Cafeteria at Alumni Hall at the university's Aurora campus.

The event is a way of bringing students and university students together and allows cafeteria employees to spend time with their families on the holiday.

The dinner featured roasted turkey breast, baked ham and vegetarian entrées, cranberry sauce, turkey dressing, brown sugar-glazed sweet potatoes, smashed red potatoes with gravy, steamed corn, green beans with candied pecans, garden salad and pumpkin, pecan or French silk pies.
