Elgin Academy, Sherman to host health, education symposium

Elgin Academy and Advocate Sherman Hospital will host the third annual Health and Education Symposium on Thursday, Feb. 4.

The free event is from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Elgin Academy campus, 350 Park St. It aims to provide parents and professionals with information on how taking learning personally is exemplified with today's thought leaders in children's health and education.

The symposium will feature keynote speaker Dr. Thomas Hoerr, author of "Multiple Intelligences: Pathways to Success," which focuses on how each individual student's strengths, abilities and learning modality supports their educational growth and achievement.

The agenda for the evening includes a light dinner from 6 to 6:30 p.m., introductory speakers from 6:30 to 7 p.m., Dr. Hoerr's keynote address from 7 to 8:30 p.m., and a book signing to follow from 8:30 to 9 p.m.

Registration is free prior to Friday, Dec. 18, and $10 after.
